about

Reverse Angle

Enter now. Ilias Ntais’ album Reverse Angle translates a psychological cosmos into musical concreteness: caught up in the fragility of words, his music captures moments of universal
fragility, of familiar and foreign life kept in secure and unsecure positions that are changing with the tidal waves of emotions and the immanent risk of landmines. As with his previous
album Postscript, the soundscape is a candid invitation to listen and hear, to hear and understand, to understand, to see, to let go of something only to return to the same perspective from a different angle. Creating numerous images and after-thoughts, Reverse
Angle merges various levels of consciousness. In this complex process Ilias Ntais filters carefully deviced frames of mind and sonically turns them into “shades of spoken emotion.”

Most notably, Reverse Angle acoustically explores the difficult terrain of how one can musically and philosophically deal with global emotions that are transposed from our 21st century collective and personal realm. In this sound composition, the private is not only
political, but it reverses this very angle: the political news that one is daily confronted with become a private mayhem of how to give voice to the voiceless. From Ilias Ntais’ metaphoric lyrics surface concrete personal introspections into the human catastrophies of capsized
refugee boats, of waiting lines in refugee camps, of the psychological trauma of fenced-in people, who we may never hear of again.
In all this, Ilias Ntais’ music becomes the one legacy that is universally left to speak up for those who cannot. It radically speaks about us.

Track Name: riptide
SPARE ME THE SUFFERING
CAUSE I’M TOO FRAIL
THE WAVES DON’T
DROWN MY THOUGHTS
THEY SCARE THEM AWAY

WILL I EVER FEEL
AT HOME AGAIN
WILL I EVER FEEL
THAT WARMTH AGAIN

SOMEDAY I’LL GET
WASHED OUT
ON A SHORE
AND START AGAIN
THE RIPTIDE
IS TAKING ME AWAY

FROM HERE
FROM ME

CAN’T YOU SEE
THE CURRENTS
PULLING ME AWAY
IT’S TO LATE
TO REACH OUT
REACH OUT
FOR MY HAND

WILL I EVER FEEL
AT HOME AGAIN
Track Name: reverse angle
AS THE CLOUDS KEEP CHANGING SHAPES
I CAN SEE THE PIECES
FALLING INTO PLACE

BUT IT’S NOT SAFE TO STAY
THE LANDMINE IS FILLED WITH PAIN
YOUR ANGER AND DESPAIR

PLEASE GIVE ME PEACE OF MIND
I’M GIVING UP THE FIGHT TODAY

AS THE SUN DESCENTS
MY FEELINGS START TO FADE
INTO MEMORIES I MIGHT
LET GO ONE DAY

CAUSE I’LL BE SITTING
ON THE OTHER BANK ONE DAY
I’LL PUT THIS ALL TO REST
AND FOCUS ON MYSELF
CAUSE I’LL BE SITTING
ON THE OTHER BANK ONE DAY
AND WHILE THE CURTAIN
STARTS TO CLOSE
I’LL WALK AWAY

SOMEHOW WE’LL FIND A WAY
SOMEHOW WE’LL FIND A WAY

CAUSE I’LL BE SITTING
ON THE OTHER BANK ONE DAY
AND WHILE THE CURTAIN
STARTS TO CLOSE

I’LL WALK AWAY
